Distributed MPC wallets for enterprises:
A crypto start-up with over 85,000 users, 350 institutional clients and over $4 billion monthly asset movements in and out of wallets.

But users still lack a central system to manage assets across multiple platforms such as crypto exchanges.

( 01 ) Overview

Qredo users, particularly institutional asset managers and traders, lacked a central system to manage their assets across multiple exchanges, which resulted in inefficiencies, security risk and cognitive load when dealing with different UI's.

So, we built a seamless management feature that allows users to import view and interact with exchanges such as Binance, Bybit, Huobi and OKX from the Qredo platform.

( 02 ) Process : Discover

Collaborating with user research and my PM I kicked off the process with user interviews and broader market study. It was obvious that building an exchange hub would be beneficial not only for our users but for Qredo, establishing it as the go to crypto management platform.

With this information I work-shopped with my squad to gather key specs that impacted design, developed IA, wrote user stories and aligned design and tech needs to establish a strong foundation.

( 02 ) Process : Ideate

Working with user flows, sketches and wireframes I explored how users could connect to and view their exchanges, edit exchange connection and remove the exchange. Starting im more traditional methods, using pen and paper allows me to explore ideas easily without worrying about pixel perfection.

( 02 ) Process : Design

With a robust design system and well defined user stories, user flows, requirement I was able to move quickly into high fidelity mockups and flows, which was vital for our fast paced environment. These were then tested with users.

(03) Solution

In the final iteration, we addressed feedback from previous testing such as:
Users expect to choose which wallets to import from the selected exchange.
Users expected the option to make read-only.

To respect the design philosophy ‘make flows simple’ defined when re-platforming, the tasks such as ‘connecting to exchange’ and ‘add wallets’ were in separate steps. This simplified processes and made post connection management easier.

( 04 ) Wrapping Up

After 3-6 months we achieved the following:
+ 8% adoption rates, + 12% user retention + partnerships with Binance, Bybit and Huobi.

Naturally, like with any endeavour there were some challenges. Ensuring that terminology and language were understood uniformly between different exchanges and within Qredo presented a significant challenge, and adapting to requirements that had changed just as we were about to test the designs.

Collaboration with engineering from the beginning fostered an open dialogue that led to more agility when adjusting to these changing requirements.
